With home-based childcare, there are licensed Agencies and private caregivers. Licensed means strict standards set by the Ministry of Education's Child Care & Early Years Act are followed by an agency. Private caregivers cannot be licensed and are not monitored.

Qualifications and skills... Providers undergo an extensive screening process with medical, personal references and police record checks. They receive training for emergencies, First Aid and CPR certification and ongoing workshops.

Safety in homes... appropriate sized, clean space conform to fire regulations, child-proofing safety measures, approved equipment and play materials, and the right insurance coverage.

Supervised Support & Monitoring... parents and Providers receive support from a team of experienced staff. Registered Early Childhood Educators conduct regular unscheduled "drop-in" visits to all Wee Watch homes to ensure programs and standards are maintained and support Providers.
